Disaster Prevention Solutions

About Our Disaster Prevention Solutions
Due to Japan’s natural conditions, including its location, topography, geology, and climate, it is highly prone to disasters such as typhoons, heavy rain, heavy snow, floods, landslides, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions. Therefore, disaster prevention measures in Japan are essential to protect lives during disasters.
Our Company utilizes its capabilities in research, development, and procurement of materials to offer a wide variety of disaster prevention products. We also participate in the organization “Marugoto Bosai Council”, collaborating with professionals from various industries across the country. By leveraging this comprehensive strength, we provide optimal disaster prevention solutions that address the needs of customers and communities, contributing to a safer and more secure society.

Teijin Frontier’s Strengths
Development & Proposal Capabilities That Respond to Customer Needs
We began focusing on disaster prevention products after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, responding to customer feedback to research and develop a wide array of such products.
We would like to introduce two of our products here: “Portable tent” and “Lightweight ceiling material ”
Our "Portable tent" was originally developed in response to a request from a shipbuilding company that needed a lightweight, easy-to-set-up tent for use during ship repairs and painting in rainy weather. Starting from this highly specialized need—“a tent that can cover an entire ship hull”—we created a product that, through improvements in wind resistance and usability, has evolved into the "Portable tent" now used in disaster response settings.

As for “Lightweight ceiling material ”, it was developed in response to the strong demand for "safe ceilings" following the Great East Japan Earthquake, which caused significant ceiling collapse and fall damage. To meet these demands, we began developing ceiling materials that are highly sound-absorbing, thermally insulating, lightweight, and resistant to cracking. That’s how our "Lightweight ceiling material" was born.
In this way, Our Company's strength lies in its ability to develop products in direct response to customer feedback, and to refine them into versatile solutions that can be applied in many different settings.
Collaboration with Teijin Group and Partner Companies
“Marugoto Bosai” (Total Disaster Prevention) platform—a packaged indoor safety solution combining disaster-related products from multiple partners.
This idea emerged from a disaster prevention study group with participants from manufacturers, construction firms, and researchers. Now, the Marugoto Bosai Council has been established as a general incorporated association, chaired by our own Takahisa Kishimoto.
